Life Group Ministries Project

What is a Life Group Ministry? A Life Group Ministry is a group of Christians that meet together on a regular (bi-monthly) basis and have a common ministry. Each group will be geared toward a different aspect of Christian service. The life group tries to encourage non-Christians to join and be involved in the group and in that way, we can influence them for the Lord. You can be in more than one life group. The group will be under the eldership of the Guyandotte Church of Christ; however, the group will have an autonomy that will allow them to be led by the Holy Spirit into new ministries for Christ. These groups will allow a Christian to become involved in the service of the Lord. We are called to serve and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Here is a list of the beginning life groups:

Lydia's Life Group - This life group consists of women only of any age. They will have fellowship, crafts, and service projects. The women of the congregation are encouraged to sign up. Leaders: Juanita Slater, Debbie Shoemaker, and Phyllis Shoemaker.

Merciful Missions Group - We are to sow the seed. There are plenty of physical needs in the community as well as throughout the country. They will develop, plan, and execute ideas for helping local families and individuals. This could involve food, clothing, school supplies, media such as print, video, audio, etc. They will develop projects to spread the word of God in various ways. This group will also be involved in distant missions, as well as yearly mission trips. Leaders: Anita Adkins, Jerry Shoemaker, Joyce Martin, Sherry Hutton, and Steve Bumgarner.

Tutoring Life Group - Since Guyandotte has an abundance of children in the area, some need help with school subjects such as math, spelling, reading, etc. This life group ministry will develop ways to help tutor the local children and teach adults to read and write. They will develop the volunteers, schedules, and materials that would be used for this ministry. Leaders: Mikaela Perry, and Keith Thomas.
