WORDS
OF ENCOURAGEMENT
“A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said,
Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
(Matthew 8:2)
The more I read about Jesus and his ministry the more I am amazed that people not only brought to him their infirmities but they also brought with them their expectations. Person after person came to Jesus expecting something great, expecting a miracle. Here are just a few of the examples out of Matthew.
“News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon possessed, those having seizures and , the para- lyzed, and he healed them.”(Matt. 4:24)
“The
centurion replied,....”But just say the word,
and my servant will be healed.”(Matt 8:8)
“She
said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak,
I will be healed.”(Matt 9:21)
Even the disciples who were with Jesus on the lake when a terrible squall descended upon them quickly, expected Jesus to protect or save them. The most amazing part of all is not they expected something from Jesus, but that he fulfilled their desire. Such a vital part of our worship and reverence of God is the expectation that He will do something great.
Some words that mean the same thing as expectation are: anticipation, assurance, confidence, hope and trust. I believe that if we anticipate God to do great things in our lives and our gatherings He will. If we go to church each service and trust that God is going to do something glorious in that service, He will.
I want to
encourage each of you to expect, anticipate and trust God to do great
things every time we meet together. In the last several weeks we have
seen people making decisions for the Lord and this is only the start of
great things to come. Do you believe it?
I Love
You
